how to get around, a short intro:
Straße means street,

S-bahn
is a city train, part of the public transport in berlin, marked by a white S on a green circle, runs mainly overground, and usually stops running between 1am and 4am during weekdays, runs every 30 minutes on weekends

U-Bahn
is the underground or metro, or tube or whatever.. also part of the public transport,
marked by a white U on a blue square, runs mainly underground and usually stops between 1am and 4am,
and is substituted during that time by nightbuses.

How to get to the hostel:
The hostel is centrally located between the s-Bahn-stations Friedrichstrasße and Oranienburger Straße
and the U-Bahn-station Oranienburger Tor. On foot it takes between 3 and 12 minutes to get to the hostel.

Arriving by train (15-20 minutes):
Take any S-Bahn (city train) going to Friedrichstraße, just 1 stop away from the main trainstation and 4 stops away from either Ostbahnhof or Zoologischer Garten. Exit onto Friedrichstraße and walk north to cross the River Spree. After the bridge take the second street to your right into Johannisstraße, walk 150 m down the street and you will find us on the left hand side in number 11.

from Schönefeld Airport (1 hour):
Take the S-Bahn (city train) S9 to Bornholmer Straße and change into S2 to Oranienburger Straße. Exit the station and walk south on Tucholskystraße, take the first street right into Johannisstraße, you will find us on the right hand side in number 11. Alternatively you could take the regional train RE7 or RB14, which go directly to Friedrichstraße, but run only every hour.

from Tegel Airport (40 minutes):
Take the bus 128 to U-Bahn-Station (Underground) Kurt-Schumacher-Platz.
Get on the U6, direction Alt-Mariendorf, get off at Oranienburger Tor
and exit the station in the same direction the train went. Keep walking,
take the first left into Johannisstraße, walk 150 m down the street and you will find us on the left hand side in number 11.

Arriving by Bus at the central bus station ZOB:
At the nearby U-Bahn-station (Underground) Kaiserdamm take the U2 and go to Potsdamer Platz, change into S-Bahn (city train) number S1 or S2 direction Bernau or Oranienburg and get off at Oranienburger Straße. Exit the station and walk south on Tucholskystraße, take the first street right into Johannisstraße, you will find us on the right hand side in number 11.

Arriving with loads of luggage:
If you want to avoid walking, you can go to Oranienburger Straße, which is the closest station to the hostel. To get there you have to go to Friedrichstraße first, change to S-Bahn S1 or S2 and take one stop direction Bernau or Oranienburg. Exit the station Oranienburger Straße and walk south on Tucholskystraße, take the first street right into Johannisstraße, you will find us on the right hand side in number 11.

Your train ticket or EuRail ticket is also valid for the S-Bahn (city train), but not the U-Bahn (Underground).
